La principal diferencia estriba en el precio, gratuito para OpenOffice.org, y dependiendo de la versión entre 130€ y 700€ para Microsoft Office. En cuanto a funcionalidades están muy parejos, pero Microsoft Office es un software mas rodado y con mejores prestaciones. Para el uso normal no avanzado son intercambiables.
TeX is a markup language quite older than HTML. It was thought mainly for the edition of technical articles and books and it gives great freedom for using math formulas and other symbols. HTML on its side, even though it have extensions to allow many TeX options, is thought to be used on the Web and is more limited.
